100 YEARS OF THE COPACABANA FORT
The Copacabana Fort celebrated 100 years of existence ... and is just here, just in front of the Orla!
Built in 1914, the site was considered the last defense fortification of Guanabara Bay and today houses, besides the Army Historical Museum, Columbus Patisserie and Café 18 do Forte, famous among locals and tourists for its pastries. From there, one can see the Cagarras Islands, the Arpoador and the Devil's Beach. The area is also known for hosting major conferences such as TEDx, Rio + 20 and the Soccerex.
