Ipanema
Its sands mark the history of Bossa Nova. Ipanema is among the favorite beaches of the Cariocas for its charm and relaxation, worldwide known for the song "Garota de Ipanema" by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais. The 2 km long beach, from the Arpoador to the Garden of Alah, is a meeting point for young locals and tourists, especially near the 9th station. The beach is used for practicing various sports, as well as being a stage for shows outdoors. Among the favorite activities are surf, coolbol, volleyball, soccer and football. Cariocas and tourists usually sit on their sands in the late afternoon to chat and applaud the magnificent sunset. On Sundays, the slopes of the border are prohibited until 18h for vehicles and released for the leisure of the cariocas. Carry your bike or your skateboard!
